Sila Sveta (Russia) / Monument video mapping / 3 min
A 3D experimental audiovisual artwork envisions the museum undergoing a cosmic eruption. The historic building appears at first to explode, and then to implode on itself, as if a black hole had emerged from the core of its interior. A metaphysical and evocative moment then unfolds at the climax. To enhance the effect, the authors of the idea Alexander Us and Yuri Kolokolnikov turned to Brodsky’s poem called Loneliness. The whole process is accompanied by Brodsky’s poetry.

Sturm Der Liebe

Everything bathes in mazarine blue. Birds announce a rising, undefined energy swelling in the distance. A whirlwind of colours rouses, dictated by the growing sound of distant voices. Emotions flare up in every corner and as chaos passionately takes over, a storm reaches its climax. The similarities between the build-up to a hurricane and the ups and downs in an ardent relationship are endless. Sturm der Liebe visualises this metaphor in all its facets. From the tiniest molecule finding its way to the eye of the storm to endorphins released, each element remains in constant movement. The tempest dies down and tempers have calmed. All seems peaceful again, but is it calm before the storm? Visualised by Nele Fack and accompanied by the lush sounds of AMyn (Niels Blondeel).

The Cherry Orchard
Parisa Karimi (Germany) / Monument video mapping / 10 min
Extract from an outdoor theatre play – The Cherry Orchard from Anton Chekhov, directed by Marlin de Haan and developed in cooperation with Parisa Karimi and Jan Patrick Brandt. The play is about city politics and development in Düsseldorf, especially in Düsseldorf-Flingern, a center of gentrification nowadays. The play also talks about the sale of lands and the expulsion of the inhabitants. In this version of Chekhov’s comedy, the characters become “squatters”. As the place of the show is the Kiefernstraße (a squatted street from the 80s), the play builds a link with the squatting culture of the 80s in Düsseldorf and the urban politics nowadays. To do so, Parisa Karimi built a soundcollage composed of interviews with kids about their visions for living, connected with interviews from archives about the street.

Curraghmore, near Portlaw in County Waterford in Ireland, is the historic home of the Marquess of Waterford. For at least 6 centuries, it has been in the hands of the same family, the name being changed only once though marriage. The visual artists Nicholas Azidis and Rose Staff were invited from Australia to produce a work specific to the site that reimagined the Curraghmore estate with lively and colourful designs. These patterns pull their hallmark style from the vibrant sun of their home country, expressing the quality of light in bright, bold artwork.

Kuhe Nur
Parisa Karimi – Rangbarang (Germany) / Monument video mapping / 5 min 16
“Kuhe nur” is a live video mapping performance with animated images of rangbarang aka Parisa Karimi. “Kuhe Nur” or also called “Koh-i-Noor” is one of the largest cut diamonds in the world, whose origin is in India. As the diamond was a symbol of power, it was stolen from one empire to another over the centuries. Mythology tells that the diamond came out gods tears. The expression “Kuhe Nur” comes from Persian and literally means “mountain of light”.

Illuminarium3000 (Russia) / Monument video mapping / 7 min 24
A truly unique show, which combines several innovative techniques affecting human perception: 2D and 3D graphic design and laser installations that cut the space directly above the viewer. The creation integrates decorations in the form of large and small architectural forms, circles on the facade and huge inflatable spheres installed directly on the square, as well as an impressive sound design with many effects. 40 droes also participated in the show, sending signals to all present viewers and simultaneously broadcast them on the facade.

NUCLEUS³

NUCLEUS³ uses audiovisual means to ask the question: what do we expect from the future? Today is the nucleus on which the the future is crystallising out of the past. According to this motto the creation is divided into 3 acts, which are referring to stories from the past, the clarity of the present and the chances for the future. Videos of St. Ludmila Church deform the facade, architectural elements are played as instruments and the inner structure of the church is made visible. The illustration and deformation of concise sections of the facade and the interior symbolise individual stories or episodes that are linked to the building and will be associated with it in the future. The church becomes the narrator of these stories. The emotionally charged images provide an intense experience and are meant to induce inspiration, tab into memories and create a diversity of interpretation by the viewers.
